11+ Creative writing
Creative writing requires a bespoke and expert approach, different from the more structured, rote-learning methods found in subjects like maths. That’s why we offer creative writing as a standalone subject, with a curriculum tailored to each pupil’s needs.

Our lessons help students bring together multiple threads of learning: developing imagination, mastering essential SPAG (spelling, punctuation, and grammar), and understanding key elements such as literary devices.

We focus on engaging students’creativity while building a solid foundation in the technical aspects of writing. Pupils learn to craft vivid imagery, use language with precision, and apply exam-ready techniques. This approach prepares them not only for the 11+ exam but also to become confident, skilled writers across all areas of their learning.

11+ comprehension and vocabulary
Our 11+ comprehension and vocabulary lessons develop the reading and language skills required for success in selective school entrance exams. Pupils are taught how to read analytically and purposefully, with a clear focus on exam expectations.
Lessons cover all key comprehension skills, including inference, deduction, retrieval, and interpretation, alongside structured practice in responding accurately to a range of 11+ question types. Vocabulary is taught systematically, focusing on meaning, nuance, and confident use in context.
This approach has consistently led to strong results and successful entry to selective schools, with pupils developing the confidence and exam understanding needed to perform well in 11+ assessments.
